The pharyngitis

I was just explaining to my youngest sister who is eight years my junior about what the suffix '-itis' carry medically. This simply means, pharyngitis is the inflammation of the pharynx. Meningitis is the inflammation of the meninges. When I ran out of word, I recalled 'otitis media'. When I mentioned the word 'otitis', my sister quickly added, "inflammation of the otot!"

Otot = muscle.

Of course, it isn't! It is inflammation of the middle ear.

That aside, why am I suffering from pharyngitis every other day? It is so annoying!
